As I promised a few days ago I am posting the last piece I made for theTranscription Project at my college.
My closing piece is a painting showing the contrast between the environment overground and underground in London. This fascinating dissimilarity between the modern impressive architecture and the terrifying old underground world in London has intrigued me. Besides, we only can experience one or the other – being either overground or underground. Since I wanted to capture both, I came up with this triptych consisting of 3 sections – oveground, underground and the connection between them represented by escalators.
My primary concept was based on a changing perspective which I purposely used also for this final painting. All the three parts I connected in such a way that a viewer cannot clearly recognize where one part ends and the other begins. Here is the complete work which was preceded by a lot of photo references and sketches.
